Three generations, three sons, three Sams. How did we end up with a hat-trick of Sam Lentinis in the family?
Well, our grandfather Salvatore was called Sam for short. He named one of his sons Sam and later on, three of his grandchildren inherited his name. That's due to our Italian values of honouring family members. Of course, nobody knew that three Sams would stick around to work in the family fruit juice and water business!
The name Lentini originates from the Italian island of Sicily. Lentini is actually a citrus growing region that goes back centuries so it's no surprise that our family has continued the tradition here in Australia. You could say that it's in our blood to grow citrus. So here we are, a whole family of Sams and other Lentinis still working and living together on the Central Coast more than 50 years after those first oranges were picked.
Working as a team
Today, nine Lentinis run Eastcoast Foods and Beverages. We all pull together as a team so we don't have strict job descriptions, but Sam, Nina, Mick, Maria, Frank and Rosa mainly cover management, procurement, citrus growing and packing. They are our husband and wife teams. Sons Samuel J and Dom mostly look after sales and marketing, while another Sam takes care of our all-nighter Sydney Markets business (he's the tired looking one!).
We're a family
As a family, we enjoy father and son road trips to visit our growers. When we're not working hard, you'll usually find us, like many traditional Italian families, gathered around a table sharing stories, eating home-made pasta, sauces, pizzas and salami. When we open a bottle of Lentini Sparkling water, we often joke that Salvatore would not approve: he never drank water. Now he has a brand of water named after him!
Salvatore passed on more than his name to us. He passed on his hard work ethic, and we work hard every day so that you can enjoy the tastiest fresh fruit juice in Australia.
From our family to yours.
